Re: Parents Pins on Uniform

Koval, Ric (ric_koval@MS1.MANKATO.MSUS.EDU)

To add a couple of pennies to the change cup,

In the passing comments about the "legality" of wearing the parents pins on
the uniform is the obvious pride in the accomplishments of our Scout children.
Mine led me to display two rows of pins vertically on the leaders green tie
that I wear a lot. Yes, as Council Training Chair and a Good 'Ole Antelope
('94) and Staffer ('97, '98) I realize that it's not official. I do not wear
the tie during training sessions (that's reserved for necker, beads and
woggle). I also realize that under "Setting the Example" portion that I am
displaying, shall we say, less than proper form but, they are my kids (an
Eagle and a Life Scout) and I just can't help myself from being a proud
father! I've been called on it a few times by other adult Scouters and I
politely demure and leave my tie on...sorry...I suppose we could dock my pay
(lighthearted chuckle)...Ric...

I will make my own way and I will leave a trail...
