Re: To Dues or Not to Dues

Our pack gives the parents a choice. $27 up front or $3 per month. On
the whole it's worked about 80% of the time. Of my 6 boys, 4 have paid
the full $27, 1 is paying the $3/month and the other hasn't paid a dime.
The one who has paid nothing is also not a regular attendee. He's been to
1 den meeting each month of Oct, Nov and Dec and has only been to 1 pack
meeting. We're a small pack so our dues are pretty crucial. Our popcorn
sales usually get us through the Blue and Gold Banquet but we need the
added Dues in order to buy their badges, pins, etc. We don't leave it to
the boys. Also, I do a weekly Newsletter to my parents and at the bottom
I have a constant reminder note. I also do the monthly Pack Newsletter
and I put a reminder at the bottom of it too. Funny how it seems so few
people read them when you place them in their hands though. _That_ has
disgusted me. We started the Newsletter for the Pack because parents
constantly say they didn't know about some upcoming event. We PLACE these
in their hands and now will say...Well, it was in the Newsletter I gave
you.

I'd like to know how other Packs handle dues also.
