One of the more mysterious methods I have used is dry chlorine and brake
fluid. Caution is a key aspect here. First, don't let the two mix
prematurly. Store them seperate. Provide a foil or tin base to pour the
chlorine on. Make a depresion in the middle of the chlorine. About 2-4
Min before you want the fire, pour about 4oz of brake fluid in to the
chlorine. Make sure the audience is well away from the fire because of
the fumes given off. Practice this first so you will know what to expect
and how long to ignition. When it does ignight it will have flames up to
3 ft high. I usually do this type of fire when sharing scouting ashes and
sprinkle them on and move away to talk about the ashes and proceed to the
opening of the campfire. By then, Magic, the fire ignights.
