The reprint of the 1911 handbook has an ad for the "Boy Scout" shoe made =

the Excelsior Shoe Co. of Portsmouth, OH. The price ranged from $2 for
little boys to $3 for big boys and men. There is also an ad for
"O'Sullivan's Heels of New Live Rubber" 50 cents per pair attached from =
the
O'Sullivan Rubber Co. of New York. Joseph M. Herman and Co. of Boston =
also
advertised Boy Scout Shoes.
The 5th edition, 5th printing, June 1952 handbook has ads for U.S. Keds
sneakers on page 533. Buster Brown Official Boy Scout Shoes are =
advertised
on page 539. Tough raw cord sole and stout rubber heal. Ad copy says the
Buster Browns have bee official shoes for past 20 years. Price: $7.45 =
for
youth sizes and $9.95 for men's sizes. The General Shoe Co. of Nashville
also advertises Official Boy Scout Shoes on page 546. Features
"long-wearing Neolite Soles."
