A Pow Wow Thanks!

Howdy folks!
I have to send a group message to those special people who asked for a
copy of the Alapaha Area Council Cub Scout Pow Wow Book:
To Cheryl (and Karen) in El Paso; Larry in Foley, AL; Lou Ann in
Stillwater, OK; Greg in Birmingham, AL (and I'll get back to you about
the council patch swap); Yvonne in Buena Park, CA; Suzan in Edmond, OK;
and Barb in NE (I'm afraid I sent your copy to the Fort Calhoun address
instead of the Omaha one, sorry!)...your Pow Wow books went in the mail
yesterday morning and your checks were turned over to the council office
yesterday afternoon. They are winging their way to you even as I post
this message. To my good friend Chris in AL, I hope you've received
your copy by now and that it meets with your approval. To Joe in
Canada, what can I say? We are both at the mercy of the postal system.
Hope they resolve that strike as soon as possible (ASAP!). And to Henry,
no I haven't forgotten you, just trying to scrounge up a handful of
council strips to put in the envelope with the PW book so we can do that
trade thing.
If I didn't mention your name and city/state, I have not yet received
your order for the Pow Wow book. Don't worry, there are still plenty of
the original run available for those who want one. I've held off giving
the council a batch to place on their Scout store shelf. PW books tend
to gather dust on their shelves for some reason. I want this book to be
used while it still has a heartbeat!
(Yes, for those of you who remember any of my previous posts to this
mailing list, I am totally incapable of writing a short message.) There
are still twenty complete, collated, drilled for 3-ring binder, and
shrink-wrapped copies of the Alapaha Area Council Cub Scout Pow Wow book
available. I have enough unfinished books and covers that, through the
magic of laser printing, can quickly become full-fledged books for an
additional 15 copies. After that, Hewlett-Packard and I can still crank
out a few more, if necessary. And, the Alapaha Area Council (why am I a
volunteer instead of a professional?) gets 100% of the proceeds from the
book (well, okay, the post office gets a couple bucks).
Pow Wow is training. I enjoyed working on the council's Cub Scout PW
book, and I look forward to doing it again next year. What I really
wish (being a Scoutmaster) is to see an example of a Boy Scout Pow Wow
book. There have to be some out there somewhere. If your unit or
council has had a Boy Scout Pow Wow, PLEASE let me know. I don't care
if it was recently or in the past, I want to know. If there has not
been such a critter, I want to know. And I want to know if a Boy Scout
Pow Wow Book has ever been put together. If not...I believe it is high
time that the Boy Scouts do Pow Wow. Take the old Show and Do and
revitalize it! Folks, Pow Wow is fun as well as educational! If
somebody out there hasn't got an example of PW for Boy Scouts, well
then, I'll do it myself! (My council training chair is going to flip
when he hears about this, and if you've ever seen our CTC, you would
know what an impressive sight that would be!)
Lessee, thank the PW book folks and bring up Boy Scout PW. Yep, that's
enough for now.
Yours in Scouting,
