1997 JOTI PATCHES!

Don De Young (pack215@MAIL.GEOCITIES.COM)

Dear SCOUTS-L Scouters:

The 1997 JOTI Patch Project has been a tremendous success! Several
hundred people World-wide have expressed interest in obtaining it, and
many, many times that number of patches have been requested. Well, our
manufacturing order went out today! Hopefully you feel as anxious about
receiving these high-quality Collector's Items today, as you did two
weeks ago! These are the ONLY widely distributed patches that celebrate
the "First Sanctioned JOTI". Next year, there will certainly be an
Official patch for the "Second Sanctioned JOTI". So, for your reading
pleasure, here is a status summary of the JOTI Patch Project, and for
those who are unfamiliar to the Project, how you can take part it. Here
goes:

1) There is a 'new' Website devoted to the 1997 JOTI Patch project. It
is at: http://pwp.value.net/baden/joti-patch.html This site will be
updated constantly throughout the Project's lifecycle. Please visit the
site and formally order your patches. Return Patch mailings will be
"first-order-in-first-out".

2) The Patch artwork is completed. It is on the first page of the
Website, along with the description of the design. I think you'll like
it!

3) We have selected a patch manufacturer via a competitive bid process.
What an amazingly competitive industry patch embroidery is! I learned
that no bid is final until you write the check! Anyway, on November 7th
I will forward the digital artwork to them. They have committed to have
patches back to us by December 6th. We will then forward them to you.
They will be high-quality, 7 color, 75% coverage patches with a similar
design to the 1997 JOTA Patch. The manufacturer requires payment in
full in order to start the work, so I will pay them up front. If at all
possible, I would really appreciate some financial relief via your
formal patch orders.

4) Here is the story with the "profits" from the Patch Project. All
proceeds from the Project will be donated to the World Scouting
Organization (WOSM) JOTI Team. Along with our check will be a document
that describes this project, and a list of the names and Units of all
who participated, financially and otherwise. This includes YOU! We
plan to ask WOSM to use the funds to 'bank-roll' future JOTI events. I
think it would be great if they used the funds to seed next year's
"Official" JOTI Patch effort!!

In closing I would like to express my gratitude for your support on this
Project! I think we can make some impact here, and we get a patch for
doing it! If you have any questions, or require additional information,

I can be reached by e-mail at baden@value.net.

Yours in the Spirit of CyberScouting and International Brotherhood!

Don
