Amy's B & G - Circus

Roman J. Smith (roman.j.smith.13@ND.EDU)

James Wellborn mentioned the idea of a Circus theme at a B & G dinner.

Just to relate an idea used at a Pack meeting 40 years ago when my Pack had
a circus. (I think the RBB&B circus at that time was still under the Big
Top *smile*) We had a relativly large pack, but do ask me how many were in
the Pack. Each Den did a circus act. Now remeber how long ago this was, so
you do not have to do this the same way. My den did the lion act. Each
mother made a yellow lion suit from a pattern bought from a catalog. My
older brother got to be the lion tamer, but I do not rember what he wore.
We had stands which we sat on, we jumped through hoops, roared, and
whatever. We practiced for the entire month at Den meetings drilled by the
Den mother. Other dens did the clown acts, the actrobats, and I do not
remeber what else. All I realy remeber was that I was nerves about roaring
at the wrong time, and that I had a load of fun.

I know that will not get seven mothers to make a lion suit today, but there
is still a lot of things that can be done to make an idea like this work in
a larger Pack. I realy do not know how large the Pack was, but were
chartered by a Catholic grade school with over a 700 students.
