Appalachian Trail - Georgia

Our scout group is now on standby for Philmont next summer. I am
considering offering our scouts the option to hike the entire
Appalachian trail in the state of Georgia if we do not get to go to
Philmont. Is there anyone on the discussion group that has done this
before? Any suggestions? What is the time frame needed to cover this
distance. How did you restock the group with food?
This group has already hiked the Woody Gap to Neel's gap section and
is planning to hike Unicoe Gap to Hogpin Gap next month, so the
scouts already have some experience with the trail.
