A Trio of New Eagles

I am pleased to announce that three Scouts in our troop completed their
Eagle Boards of Review on Thursday, October 23. All three are former
Tiger Cubs, Cub Scouts, Webelos Scouts and recipients of the Arrow of
Light Award. Our three new Eagles are:

JONATHAN APPLEWHAITE is a 15 1/2 year old freshman at Georgetown High
School and a member of Grace Episcopal Church. Jonathan joined our
troop in September, 1993. His summer camp adventures include trips to
the Buffalo Trail Scout Ranch in 1994, Camp Constantin in 1995, Camp
Cherokee in 1996 and the Pirtle Scout Reservation in 1997. His high
adventure trips include a backpacking & whitewater rafting expedition at
the Packard High Adventure Base in 1996 and a Philmont expedition in
1997. On his Trail to Eagle, Jonathan earned 28 merit badges, recorded
99 days/nights of camping, scored 96% on uniform inspections, provided
106 service hours and attended 87% (148 of 171) of our troop meetings.
Jonathan's Eagle Scout Service Project consisted of conducting a Kwanzaa
workshop for Girl Scout Troop 157.

TOM JONES is a 13 year old eighth grader at Benold Middle School and a
member of Crestview Baptist Church. Tom Joined our troop in February,
1995. His summer camp adventures include trips to Camp Constantin in
1995, Camp Cherokee in 1996 and the San Isabel Scout Ranch in 1996. In
1997, Tom took part in our Mountain Man Outpost Adventure at the Blue
Ridge Mountains Scout Reservation in Virginia. On his Trail to Eagle,
Tom earned 27 merit badges, recorded 73 days/nights of camping, scored
99% on uniform inspections, provided 159 service hours and attended 97%
(111 of 114) of our troop meetings. Tom's Eagle Scout Service Project
consisted of constructing a new group campsite at the Tejas Camp on Lake
Georgetown.

KEVIN ANDERSON is a 16 year old sophomore at Georgetown High School and
a member of First United Methodist Church. Kevin joined our troop in
January, 1993. His summer camp adventures include trips to the Lost
Pines Scout Reservation in 1993, the Buffalo Trail Scout Ranch in 1994,
Camp Constantin in 1995 and the Pirtle Scout Reservation in 1997. His
high adventure trips include a backpacking & whitewater rafting
expedition at the Packard High Adventure Base in 1996 and a Philmont
expedition in 1997. On his Trail to Eagle, Kevin earned 29 merit
badges, recorded 74 days/nights of camping, scored 93% on uniform
inspections, provided 116 service hours and attended 78% (163 of 209) of
our troop meetings. Kevin's Eagle Scout Service Project consisted of
restoring three "Welcome to Georgetown" markers which greet travelers as
they enter our city.

I am extremely proud of Jonathan, Tom and Kevin as they have excelled as
Scouts and as human beings.
