Scouts & Military

As many of you know, I am on a military post (just another in a long list
of addresses.) I cannot speak for what the policy is here on door-to-door
sales, yet. At Ft. Benning, we were allowed to do door-to-door sales for
Scouts, schools and sports. We were also allowed to sell in front of the
commissary, PX and shoppette when it was ScoutFest Ticket Expo. And, with
some pre-planning, we were allowed to have bake sales at the shoppettes (a
real money maker!) The problem with the bake sales is that council
wouldn't give us permission during ticket or popcorn time as they wanted us
to concentrate all our energy on their designated money makers.
I haven't been able to sign up with a pack here, yet. I call to try to
transfer, but they insist on making me wait for Round-up. No one has come
here to sell me popcorn, yet. It would be sad if military posts suddenly
decided to interpret this rule to prevent dependents from participating
fully in scouts. These children would be at a tremendous disadvantage
compared to off-post scouts. Requiring these children to sell off-post
would also be a hardship in that many would not have the transportation to
get off-post. And, quite possibly the neighborhoods are less safe
off-post?
Good Luck!
