Today, I received a phone call from someone on the list asking me to
e-mail the flag-folding ceremony we use during Eagle Courts of Honor. I
attempted to do this but the file came back as undeliverable. So I'm
posting the ceremony again.

Here is the posting on obtaining a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol.
Also, the ceremony our troop uses to present the flags to new Eagles.

At each Eagle Court of Honor, we use the ceremony which follows to present a flag flown over our nation's Capitol to the new Eagle Scout. The flags are obtained from our U.S. Congressman with the current price $13.40 for a 3x5 foot nylon flag. If ordered several days in advance, the flag will be flown on the date of the Scout's Eagle Board of Review. A dated certificate accompanies each flag. Having trouble identifying your Congressman? Then visit http://www.visi.com/juan/congress and you should be able to identify the person who serves your district.

YiS,

FLAG FOLDING CEREMONY

PERSONNEL REQUIRED: ONE PERSON TO READ THE NARRATIVE AND TWO PEOPLE TO FOLD THE FLAG.

=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D

We fold to the right as a symbol of life and again to the right as an emblem of our belief in the eternal life.

We fold to the left for that is where our hearts lie and it is through our hearts that we pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands; one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

We fold again to the left representing our weaker nature for we as Americans trust in God and it is to Him we look for guidance at all times.

We fold to the right as a symbol of our sword arms for it is with our swords we protect this flag and its institutions against all enemies whatsoever, whether they be found within the boundaries of our nation or without.

We fold again to the right as a tribute to our country. In the words of the immortal Stephen Decatur, "Our Country, in her intercourse with other nations may she be right, but, our country, right or wrong."

We fold to the left in tribute to one who entered the Valley of the Shadow in order that we might find life and this fold is made to honor mother for whom this flag flies on Mother's Day.

We fold again to the left as a tribute to our womanhood for it has been through their loyalty, love, and devotion that the characters of the men who have made this nation great have been molded.

We fold to the right as a tribute to father for he too gave of his sons to this nation since the days the Republic was born.

We fold from the stripes towards the stars for as the stripes symbolize the thirteen original colonies that founded our Republic, now embodies in the fifty sovereign states of the nation so when the flag is secured the stars cover the stripes.

The flag is now in the shape of a triangle. To the Hebrew citizen, this represents the lower portion of the Seal of King David and King Solomon and glorifies in his eyes the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.

In the eyes of the Christian citizen, this represents the emblem of eternity and glorifies in his eyes God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost.

When the flag is secured, the stars cover the stripes ever reminding us of our national motto "In God we Trust" and the shape of the flag is like that of a cocked hat, again reminding us of the soldiers who served under General George Washington and the sailors and marines who served under Captain John Paul Jones, who, followed by their comrades and shipmates, in times of peace as well as in times of war, through their loyalty, love and devotion to this flag and its institutions have preserved for us American citizens, the rights, privileges, and freedom we now enjoy.
