The lifeguard requirement does not indicate that the lifeguard must be
certified. Requiring BSA lifeguard was a former requirement, as I
recall, but it didn't last long. Few units have access to BSA
lifeguards. Unlike the SSD training, BSA lifeguard can't be obtained in
an afternoon.
