Mike,
I know whacha mean. I came so close to missing ships movement because I
stopped to help out at an auto accident. The ship had taken in all
lines and was about 3 feet away from the pier when I jumped aboard. The
skipper was livid, threatened to keelhaul me, flog me around the fleet,
and if there was anything left of me after that, he was gonna ... I
kinda got to him though, when I reminded him that he was an Eagle Scout,
and asked him what was the second point of the Scout Law. He understood
when I told him about the little girl with the scalp laceration. He
was, without a doubt, the best skipper I ever had.
