Re: Back to School Night

WELL, we had our Back to School Recruiting. The good news is 15 Scouts
paid, and 11 more are thinking. The bad news was - as an event I had =
put
considerable thought into, it was terrible.

[PJM] Hey Jan,

Sorry it didn't turn out as you planned it... I thought mine was pretty =
chaotic too. We signed up 38 boys and that was cool, but I thought =
things got out of hand. We had two plus Den Leaders for each table (11) =
plus three people to take money, myself , Dan the Man, and one Den =
Leader to take all of the kiddies into the other room when the meeting =
got the details. Next year we will make sure we have five leaders with =
the kiddees!!!=20

Anyway, I was happy with the numbers but unhappy with myself and the =
communications aspect of the evening, until this past committee meeting. =
We always have a time for KUDOs at every committee meeting, so imagine =
my surprise when one of our new Den Leaders thanked us for such an =
organized event. I thought he was being facetious at first, but could =
see the sincerity in his eyes. I was floored at the prospect, so I =
gently queried others as to how to make it better. Most agreed with our =
new DL.. so don't be too quick to critisize yourself... Many do not =
notice when you feel that the world is crashing around your shoulders.=20
