Jim Sleezer's absolutely correct when he stated:

>And, remember,
>Mike doesn't set your council or district standards. Sometimes he says
>"should be" when he means "could be" or "might be." He, like the rest of
>us, does not speak for national.

I rearranged his comment to stress his point.

>Mike provided a list of possible web pages that might constitute an eagle
>project. I think he went too far in trying to define "standards".

I defined *my standards*, Jim; here's what exactly I posted with regard to
the "standards":

>>Here's examples of what *I* would approve, Brian....as you can read
>>here, my "standards" are a little higher than most, and its not because
>>I'm a "hardnose"; it's because I know that Scouts CAN DO THIS
>>EFFECTIVELY. We have this "image" that we can't expect Scouts to >>do so
much work...my standard response is that if we have kids that >>have taken
up guns and go out ambushing and planning to kill >>people....that surely a
kid can create a plan, take it and get it approved, >>and implement the plan
to assist a community or a set of community >>agencies.
>>
>>So my "standards" are a little higher:

We do agree on the following, however:

>The focus of the eagle project is on the process, not the product. While
>the product is to be useful one, the leadership process to get there is
>what is important.
>
>Skip his "standards," but do consider his comments on process.

And Jim's correct; while "my standards" are higher than what most Scouters
would agree to, the process in getting the Eagle project researched,
approved, worked, and evaluated is more important than *how many* pages nor
*whom benefitted* from the project.
