A great School Night!

Our School Night for Scouting is over and what a success it was! We have
two packs, 1087 and 987, at the same elementary school. This was my
Pack 1087's first SNFS technically, as all the leadership is from Pack
987 and this was my seventh. It was Pack 987's bazillionth, but they
have all new leadership. Together, both Pack's made a wonderful team!
I got to lead a song with their Cubmaster, and we had a blast. Pack
1087 doubled in boy-size, registering 10 Tigers, 6 Wolfs, 3 Bears and 2
Webelos and 4 new leaders! I'm not sure of the breakdown for Pack 987,
but they registered 16 new boys, so they are still running around 70-75
total. All in all, a faaaaaaantastic night!

Mustang District gave us a great script for SNFS. It really emphasises
recruiting _leaders_, and seems to be effective. I always moaned that
we got training to recruit the Cubs, but none to recruit their parents.
Well, this year was different. We talked lots more about parent
involvement and spending time with your son instead of telling about all
the neat things we do in Cub Scouts. The boys at SNFS already know that
Cubs do neat things. Now, we let the parents know that they also can
and will do neat, fun things too!

As for me, I have two new Webelos in my gigantic patrol - plus an
additional Assistant Leader. That makes 14 boys and 6 leaders. :D
In March...we cross over...
