Cook that Chicken

Along with Bob's sage advice on cooking hamburger, let me stir the pot
with another bit of advice to adult leaders - watch carefully in any meal
where the Scouts are cooking chicken. During my nine years on camp
staffs, the meals involving chicken presented the most problems.
Typically Scouts wanted to fry the chicken for about five to ten minutes
and eat it done or not. Many were hungry and let this cloud judgment and
not too infrequently we ended up with a Scout that had stomach and/or
lower GI distress soon after from eating what amounted to raw chicken. I
can't emphasize enough that chicken needs to be cooked thoroughly and
that red or pink chicken is not a good idea.
