I've seen 2 types of Eagle Light Boxes, both used in support of Eagle
ceremonies:
One is an image of an Eagle Award (the pendant) and has sections that
are backlit as the ceremony progresses. The ceremony is based on the
meaning of the parts of the Eagle Award.
The other is one that includes all the ranks and each rank is lit as the
candidate's biography is read describing his train to Eagle. The nice
thing about this one is that it can also be used for regular Courts of
Honor as well.
I've seen such light boxes built so that they can sit on a table and
function as a podium for the speaker, with reading light in addition to
the switches that the speaker flips as the various sections are to be
lit up. I've also seen stand-alone units that are often a little
larger. I've been tempted to build one that can be operated remotely
using X-10 units (expensive if that's all you use X-10 units for but I
use them a lot around Christmas time to automatically light up candles
in the windows, the tree, and other decorations so they're available for
Eagle ceremonies - I use them to dim floodlights for lighting effects,
spots on an Eagle banner. They're great because you can be anywhere
there's a wall plug and you can even move around from plug to plug
depending on where you need to be to control the lighting effects.)
Light boxes seem to be less common these days because it is so easy to
take slides of the badges of rank. I have a set of slides with an Eagle
badge resting on pieces of colored felt that get projected as the
ceremony progresses.
