Our council decided last year to start holding Show And Do (Showando)
again. Our first one will be in two months.

I have no recollection of any council I was involved with ever doing one
before. My current district did a training that was very similar and is
what sparked the council training chair into deciding to do the
Showando.

We also found an old syllabus (probably from the same time) that we
looked at and used as a basis for the course with LOTS of updates. We
geared the districts version of the course to cover mainly the basic
skills required of a Scout from the time he enters the troop till the
time he makes First Class with some troop management, advancement
guidelines, and district services (i.e., roundtable, commissioner staff,
district committee, camporees and klondikes) thrown in for good measure.

I haven't seen what council has come up with for this course, but I know
the council training chair was gung ho on following the old syllabus as
is (even against much criticism by many district training chairs). I
know my district has been lobbying to have it as an overnight also
(mainly due to the length of the course and the size of the council).

YiS,
