First off let me thank you for the inspirational words about our CJ, have
you ever considered being our spokesman:). Aside from the few problems
that I have heard about from the groups that went the opinion is that all
of the boys(& girls) had a really good time. Of coarse we had next to
none media exposure but from what I have seen in this list the only type
of exposure your Jamboree got was negative. I am sure that somewhere at
the CJ somebody did some underhanded badge trading it just didn't make the
papers.
I was told when I joined on with the 40th St Catharines that the group
committee and the cub section were against coed. I would go coed if there
was a demand for it but in order to do so I need the Beavers (your
Tigers), Cubs and Scouts, Leaders and boys to vote in favour of it.
However our Ventures can go coed with just a vote among themselves without
permission from the other sections in the group. You must be two deep in
leadership of both sexes to take both sexes camping. I was kind of leary
about this but I have talked to groups outside of our district who have
made it work without any problems that I didn't have. The girls being a
non issue. This summer I met troops from England who Have been coed a
long time and they had nothing but good things to say about it. They do
go to school together so why can't they Scout together.
