Cooking Skills

My son served as grubmaster on his last cookout to complete that first
class requirement. He and his friend decided the menu. I took the boys
to the store to buy the ingredients. CJ had been thinking about the menu
for about two weeks. He thought if he approached his patrol leader with
the menu already done, he would stand a better chance of getting the job
and fulfilling his requirement.

The boys planned pancakes for Saturday morning, peanut butter and jelly
for lunch and spagetti for dinner. CJ told me that the spagetti was "a little
chewy" but next time he would cook it longer.

The boys were excited about their dinner menu. Apparently the adults that
go, judge the boys on their campsite, AND their menus. Since no one had
attempted spagetti, the boys thought they stood a good chance of getting
a troop campsite award. (turns out the other patrol had the exact menu...
the other boy was also trying to get his first class requirement and is
best friends with CJ. Good news is no one was upset. CJ and his friend
in his patrol thought it was pretty cool that they had such a good menu,
someone else wanted to use it!)
