Steve, you are correct, there is more then the Eagle in Scouting. But,
like many in their youth, many overlook the effect that the rank of
Eagle Scout, or Gold Medal of the GSA have on the future. When I
interview an individual for a position (job), if that person has
received the Eagle from BSA or the Gold Medal from the GSA, they have
the position, unless they blow the interview. In truth, I prefer them to
a fully qualified individual. They have proven in my mind that they will
learn quickly & stick to it.

Maybe that is why some parents push their lads & lasses. They have been
there & know the value of those two awards. I encourage strongly every
new Scout to walk the path to the Eagle, & beyond. Before you light the
fires, think about what I have said. If you are one that does not
strongly encourage your lad or lass to go to the top, then you are
making it easier for mine in the real world of tomorrow.

George A. Paccerelli, BSRT Commish, Stevens Dist. INWC-WA&ID, I use to
be an Antelope.
