I recently moved, and haven't had a chance to plug into the good ol' boy
and girl network in my new district. I'm so new that I don't even know
the name of my new district, so I don't know what we do here. However,
in the Mission District of the Desert Pacific Council (San Diego and
environs) we have (had?) Eagle Project Counselors. They were appointed
by either the District or Council Advancemant Committee. I'm unsure of
the requirements to be a Counselor, but being an Eagle was not one of
them. There are several women who serve in that capacity. They are all
"the usual suspects," whose names appear regularly at the district and
council levels. They are there because they've "been there, done that
and got the T-Shirt." They provide continuity, help steer a boy away
from inappripriate projects, and take a BIG load off the DAC's
shoulders. Seems to work, and doesn't add anything to the "chop
chain."Steve Featherkile
