The Council which includes that area is named "Far East Council" and
includes (as best I can remember), the BSA troops in South Korea, Japan,
Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia and the Phillipines.. I was in it my last two
years of scouting. (Came back to the states for college). From what I
remember, the council is headquartered in Japan, I believe in Okinawa.

Whatever you are used to for council setup here in the USA, forget about
it. The council is spread so far out that there are troops in it farther
from each other than Boston is from Dallas. My District (Taiwan District)
consisted of three troops and two packs. Most of the others are larger
though.

There are a couple of ways to try to get in contact with troops there. One
would be to try to get contact numbers from Dallas, with the possibility
of calling the Council HQ if you touch down in Japan (and touch down in
Daylight. :). I'd also try just calling one of the US Military bases in
Korea and going from there. I don't know if there is a scout store in
Korea for the BSA troops, we got everything by mail from Japan. You might
also see what sort of Korean scout things you can buy. Each WOSM member
has different rules. We could buy Boy scouts of China rank badges in
Taiwan, something that is more difficult here.

As for CSPs, trading can get interesting (if you wish to trade). Most of
the scouts I met in summer camp there knew that FEC normal CSPs are in
very high demand at places like National Jamborees. (all of the
advantages of a Trans-Atlantic Council CSP, but only about 25% of the
production.)
