I think that it is great that your son is in scouts. I don't think that
starting at age 13 is a problem. Your son has to realize that he may be
doing scout things with boys 11 or 12 years old. And if your son has any
ambition to be an Eagle scout, he still has plenty of time to earn it. I
think that we (as leaders) should try and recruit more older boys into
scouting. Not every boy is an Eagle scout! If the boy is in scouting for
just a couple of years, he might get something out of scouting that will
stay with him for a lifetime
(ie. Be Prepared).
