Jon,

I want to thank you and the many great people here on the Scouts-L list.

I have been on for a little over 2 years. During this time period I moved
from being a Webelos leader into Boy Scouts with my son. The troop we
joined has gone from two Scouts to twenty three Scouts with more coming
soon.

I credit our success as a troop to many things, but one of the major
reasons is your Scouts-L group. They have given me advise and support when
needed. This was crucial because within six months of joining the troop, I
took over as Committee Chairman with no training on Scouting in the
nineties. With your help, many times I was able to see a problem coming
because others here had expressed similar difficulties. I learned about
SMF, Wood Badge, the Jamboree, Philmont and much much more.

Today, we have several scouts & leaders planning on attending the Jamboree
(myself included), plans to go to Philmont in 1999 (have to wait for the
Scouts to turn 14), all of our leaders SMF trained and several Wood Badge
trained. But MOST important we have (in my humble opinion) one of the BEST
troops in the area.

Thanks for the many hours you and all of the other fine scouters have given
to help us grow.

Yours in Scouting,

Scott Payne
