I agree. The "may" language in the med form is vague and when we called
back in November, we were told that they look at all factors and so long as
the participant is under the magic 295 and his health was otherwise good,
he would probably be allowed to go. To decide to rigidly enfoce the policy
a week before we go after we've spent the money, gotten vacation time
approved, are mentally psyched for the trek, etc., is really poor.

Are you sure of this? It would be helpful to know if they have not been
enforcing this policy until 1997.

The letter they sent said "Don't come". That's what prompted our second
call to Philmont. Also talk to John Bush, Trek 722A. He's not going and
his trek is in jeopardy.

Can you provide me with details: name of individual, trek number,
height/weight. If they are not following their own guideline, that is not
fair.

My point exactly!

Hiw about ONE week before we leave. They should wait until 1998!
