Mike Walton et. al.,
I have listened intently to the arguements placed regarding the
restrictions that are or should be placed on Webelos Camping. Most of
these have been centered on the premise that camping is somehow
detrimental to their participation in Boy Scouts. This may be true or
not true. I have no data to support of refute this arguement.
As a parent, however, I would have a problem with the logic of
that arguement. I read it as saying
"We don't want your son to have too much fun in Cubs because
then he might not like Boy Scouts as much"."Wait a minute", I respond.
"I would like my son to experience the program to its fullest".
Our Cubs camped for both years as Webelos. They found it fun and
challenging. I do not believe in dumbing down a program in order to make
its next phase seem better. That seems like a step backward to me. To
quote one of Mike's lines in his Sig file "Forward in Service to Youth".

Don
