Re: Cease Fire!

As a former National Camping School certified Field Sports Director in
charge of a Summer Camp Rifle/Shotgun range and supervisor of the Archery
Range Officer, the rules MUST be that of "Zero Tollerance" regarding the
safety rules. This very similar thing has happened on both the Rifle and
Archery ranges over the period of many weeks, and a good response is that
the Scout is immediently removed and told that he will not be able to
participate in the activity until his Scoutmaster/Cubmaster/Den Leader
(whichever is appropriate) accompanies him back to the range. This way,
his leaders know of his behavior and helps deal with it. He is not allowed
to shoot without an adult present to watch him until he has demonstrated
that he is to be trusted again. There is a lot of tears and crying by the
boy at first when confronted with the consequences, but all works out in
the long run and the Scout learns a valuable lesson.
