Re: Scoutmastermobile (with special pull out vent about misled

IMHO, the best Scoutmastermobile is a used School bus...paint it green or
red and put your troop name and number on it...take a few back seats out
and haul gear. The way it sounds, you have a troop big enough to warrant
one. [50+ years of aging take place as I slip into retired scouter mode]
I remember way back when we had a bus to haul us to camp. It was a great
way to haul people and gear. Looking back I wish we would have kept it,
it is a great way to promote troop spirit. It is also a means of control,
on our way to camp we always had to have our uniforms on to get off the
bus. It promotes uniform and if used right is a great way to encourage
uniform. The way our troop travels now, we never have our uniforms on,
but then again the SM doesn't actively encourage uniform at meetings, the
only people with class A's [me being one who wears it regularly] are the
people that have been on staff {and one ASM, who only wears it on
special occasions}...[but I don't want to start a war over
uniform, I know he is wrong, but I am not in a position to correct it [off
at school four hours away {don't worry, I got involved with the local
troop}]...my home troop has some major problems {such as little to no
troop or patrol advancement, little patrol activity, youth don't run
anything (for the record, I was working on it before I had to leave for
school)} all in all the troop is misled, I don't think any of the
parents have any clue what is supposed to happen, I know it is time for
change, but I am not old enough or close enough to make them, and I don't
know any of the parents that know any better or are willing to step in.
Sorry for the vent, back to topic {I'm open to suggestions and further
discussion}]

I think the best scout vehicle is a bus. They are a lot of fun to set up
and to have. Also, thank you for the vent, it felt good, any private
suggestion are welcome, group discussion would also be good [but I leave
for summer on 11 Jun, then I'm not sure how to get suggestions to me]

you could make, who would you call and what would you say?
