Oh, what a tangled web you weave. I'd suggest you work directly with the
SM. Going over his head (if he realizes it is over his head) to the
committee will only make things worse. Talk with him about the positive
sides of supplying Den Chiefs.

* It gives HIM a place to put a scout who needs leadership experience, but
never gets elected to office.

* It gives Cubs exposure to HIS troop. Where else will they go when it
comes time to cross over?

* It gets Pack adults used to working with Scouts - adults who will be
crossing over with their sons at some point.

If these don't get him perked up, ask openly at the next roundtable whether
other troops can supply you with Den Chiefs. If you can't reason with him,
maybe a little embarrasment will help him see the light.
