With all the talk from the Whitehouse about volunteering, I certainly
hope the Prez would commend a dedicated, long-term Scoutmaster.
I honestly don't think most people in high places really understand what
those in the trenches get done -- without seeking money or fame.
Being a good Scoutmaster is just about as tough a job as any voluneer
could take: It is expensive, takes tons of time, requires a very loyal
and patient spouse. Most parents and boys fail to appreciate the
sacrifices involved nor the accomplishments achieved. But the rewards
are immense.
My hat is off to anybody who keeps the job for more than a year.
