Webelo's Scouting - was Activity Pins

Jan Mussler (mussler@SPOT.COLORADO.EDU)

Those of you experienced with Webelo's Scouting - do you target particular
activity badges each month as suggested? Or do you mix them up as Barry
Runnel's said he does? I had some success with the Bear Book material in
picking out all the potential field trips from any elective or achievement
and planning those over the summer and early fall. Our weather just isn't
predictable from the end of October until late May. So I tried to do
outdoor or driving trips in the window from May until October. Then I
began to target particular activities and fill in.

The problem I see with the Webelos material is that there are so many
potential good field trips within each Activity Pin, how am I going to
address them in the above window of time? We do utilize the school bus
when we can. They have been wonderful in dropping off the kids anywhere
in town we need to be. But, being a small town, we've nearly exhausted the
potential resources. Any additional thoughts?

As an aside, does anyone have a pattern for a toddler's easel? I have it
in my head that for Artist, I'd like to get some good watercolor paper or
actual canvas and acrylic paints for the boys to use. Easels would help
and count toward craftsman. When we're done, we could donate them to
younger sibs, the local preschool or Share a gift. Thanks.
