The proposal:

"My perfect world...
I'd like to see BSA change to include girls in the program. Leave it up
to the individual unit whether it would be co-ed, boys only or girls
only... same program, same ideals."

I wonder what the courts would say about the local unit deciding to stay all
male. Would each local unit now be open to the type of law suit now felt
periodicaly by national.

I am a supporter of the all boy unit before the age of 14. However, if we
want to go co-ed, lets merge the GSUSA and BSA and make a quality program
for all. A reality check will say that this will never happen in my tenure
in scouts.

So we are left with the BSA and GSUSA meeting the needs of the largest
possible number of youth for each of their sex. The BSA has never met the
needs of all of the boys here, we could not expect the GSUSA meeting the
needs of all of the girls in this country. So we do the best we can for the
most youth that we can. It is sad to leave some out who may benifit, but if
try to be all things to all people, we will be very littile to most. IMHO.
