Troop Bike Trip

I posted to this list that Scouting was able to get my son to do something
I couldn't--learn how to ride a bike.
The troop bike trip was two weeks ago and my son was determined to be a
"biker". He had only been riding for about a month prior to the trip.
He packed his stuff and off he went while I went to our family campout for
our Pack Crossover ceremony.
When we were talking about his trip, he was somewhat embarrass when he
admitted that he had crashed (and burned) into the trees three times.
He also informed me that crashing into trees was much tougher than crashing
in the neighborhood (I'll defer to his expertise in this). He stated that
it got out at the campfire that he had just learned how to ride a bike and
he took quite a bit of kidding (not very well, I'm sure). I asked him about
several boys he respects and was told they didn't say anything. I told him
anyone who found out he just learned and wanted to go on this trip should
be proud.
His troop has a tradition of giving out "Indian" names after a boy has been
on a minimun of three campouts. This was his third and he did not get his
name yet. (It occurs when the adults "feel" the name). One boy got the
name Wet Rock because he drove his bike into the lake (at least CJ didn't
do that).
He told me he's glad I don't go on the campouts when I told him his name
should be "Dances with Trees".
Proud Mom!
