Ideas for a Scout troop

Hi all,
I am looking for some new ideas on how to teach scouts the basics about hiking
(equipment, maps, compass, safety etc.). If anybody knows of any good resources
out there, I would be very grateful if you could mail me with the directions.
I want keep the programme simple at first, to see how the scouts are coping
and to test their abilities. The programme will consist of meeting on Fridays
but most of the training will take place over the weekends "in the field".
