Throughout the years we have all been pressed to have enough time
to have enough time to live a normal life and take care of scouts.
Here is the solution to your time problem.
TIME AND HOW WE SEE IT
When we examine the means by which we measure time in the United=20
States we are forced to the conclusion that whoever devised the=20
current system was under the influence of adverse forces from=20
outside the rational world. Lets take a look at what we use.
It all starts out neatly enough but soon degenerates into chaos.
60 seconds equal a minute.
60 minutes equal an hour.
(So far so good, but look at what happens next.)
=20
24 hours equal a day
and it takes 7 days to equal a week.
But the amount of time in the next higher unit is variable as
A month varies in length from 4 to 4.2 weeks!
Then the 12 (variable length) months are shoehorned into a year=20
of 365 days or 366 days!
But, a year is 365 days only 75% of the time with some being a=20
few seconds longer than 366 with the innovation of the leap second.
Now, don=92t forget how the week fits into the year, overall=20
there are 52.143 weeks in the year.
(We won=92t even talk about a fortnight which nobody understands.=20
And how about the system that has been invented to help catch=20
up=85Daylight savings time! Even in Indiana they don=92t believe=20
that one!)
With a system for measuring time like this it is a wonder we=20
know what day it is!
SOLUTION
I propose that we change over to a system based on the European=20
and Japanese (after all, aren=92t we trying to catch up with the=20
Japanese?) system of measurement. (Metrics) It offers a very=20
logical and easy to follow pattern.
METRIC TIME
100 Seconds in a minute.
100 Minutes in an hour.
100 Hours in a day.
10 Days in a week.
10 Weeks (100 days) in a month.
10 Months in a year.
10 Years in a decade.
10 Decades in a century.
Lets take a look at the advantages:
- Legal adulthood (and the drinking age) is now at age 7.66
- You can retire at age 23.7
- People will seldom get older than 29 and never past 39.=20
(Social Security savings!!)
- Employers will like the eight workdays before each two=20
day weekend. (Productivity Increases!)
- It will save money on buying Christmas/Birthday presents=20
as the frequency of expensive holidays will be reduced by=20
a factor of 2.74
- It will be easy to catch up on backlogged work as the=20
workday will now be 33 hours long.
- Leisure will be enhanced as we will now have 66 hours=20
per day away from the job.
- We should all get well rested as a nights sleep will=20
now be 33 hours.=20
- A summer vacation of 4 weeks will now be 40 days long=20
instead of the old standard of 28 days.
- A week of summer camp will now be 10 days long.
- A scout could make Eagle by age 4.75=20
- And finally, the best part, the Rush Limbaugh show=20
will now be 12.5 hours long!!!
