I have been reading some of the others' responses to this situation. I
find it a little difficlt to believe that you folks are getting
yourselves into situations that the only real assistance comes from a
helo. Get real. I was taught that part of being prepared was to
consider the untoward event and consider how you were to extricate
yourself from it without depending on the Herculean acts of others. If
you are getting yourself into a situation that you cannot take care of
yourself you don't belong there. If my child got herself into a
situation that the helo (or some other such extraordinary service) could
not save her, would there be heck to pay? You bet, but not by the helo
company or the government. My daughter would be the one in trouble with
me. We have to be responsible for our own acts. I know that it is
common in this current society to push everything to the max, but just
because you can doesn't mean you should. Be prepared for the expected
and unexpected ordinary events and if you cannot be prepared by yourself
for an extraordinary event, just don't do it. We cannot have
everything, which I know is also contrary to our current society's
teaching.
