Intro, belatedly

Now that I've weighed in on a couple of issues, I guess it's time to follow
the protocol and offer a brief introduction.
As a youth, I was in Pack 69, Troop 2, and Post 2, Greenfield, MA, in what
is now the Great Trails Council. I stopped advancing one merit badge short
of Life, and was elected into the now defunct Metacomet Lodge of OA (I
should dust off my old lodge flaps some day - might be worth something by
now).
The Naval Academy, active duty, and a beginning family occupied me from
1967 until 1982, when my son brought a Cub Scout flyer home from school,
and I realized what the hole was that had been missing in my life for the
previous 15 years.
Since then I have served as: Pack Advancement Chairman, Cubmaster, Unit
Commissioner, Cub Scout Training Staff, Pow Wow Staff, Assistant
Scoutmaster, National Jamboree Nature Area Staff, Boy Scout Leader Basic
Training/Scoutmastership Fundamentals training staff, Organizer and
founding Scoutmaster of Troop 93, District Advancement Chairman, 3-District
Camporee Chairman (all in the Seneca District, National Capital Area
Council). I am currently an Assistant District Commissioner, and expect to
begin a term as Vice Chairman/Program for the Seneca District at the end of
the month.
I have completed Wood Badge (Eagle), and went to the Philmont Training
Center in 1990.
I have received the Silver Beaver (1993), District Award of Merit (1991),
and Scoutmaster Award of Merit (1990), and am a Brotherhood member of OA
(Amangamek-Wipit Lodge)
I finance this habit by working as a Naval Systems Engineer. In my spare
time, I research genealogy, read history, and participate in high-power
rifle matches.
My wife of 26 years has also been my Scouting partner for 15 years.
