[Advisory] Last Full Week/Website Update

This is the last full week that I've have access to Scouts-l and
the other forums where I'm presently at. I must pack up my
computers, software and other items and get them into the mail
before the 16th of this month; these are the last items that will
be mailed outward.
I will be back to the list sometime toward the end of the month. I
have been unable to get my laptop fixed (the controller card failed
finally) and so I won't have access to the list on a regular basis
until I get back to Kentucky. That's going to REALLY bother me,
gang!! In the meantime, if you have any personal questions,
pleaost themUpdateJessica (jessica@dynasty.net) and I'll be able to
answer them through her by phone.
My last day of work here is on April 18th. I
depart from here to Babenhausen, Germany to a "consolidation point"
on April 20th at 4am. If everything works the way it should, I
should be on a plane
toward the States on April 22nd or 23rd and depart from Fort
Benning, Georgia, on or around the end of that week. Lot of this
has to do with how many others will be leaving, how the Army gets
me Stateside, and how "acurate" and "up-to-date" my records are.
This is a copy of my "What's New" webpage, which appears every
other week or so on my website. I've left in the tags which point
to a specific item, only because many emailers now recognize the
tags as "hotspots" and you may launch your browser from your email
program. For those of you that do NOT have that feature yet, it's
a good one and I do apologize for the extra lines.
I've edited out all of the information that has little to do with
youth and Scouting, and those that I felt that the majority of
posters here would not want to read about. Please provide me some
feedback *privately* on what you think about the new format and
if there's something else you would like to see at "a website", not
neccessarily mine. I will summarize the general comments and post
them here within the next week.

Here's What's New on These Pages!!
The news still talks about an "impending mission to Zaire" to
"rescue American citizens and others by American military forces".
While that may be true, there's still very little I can comment on
except to say that some of the people that I work with -- and
myself -- are very much involved in the day-to-day workings of that
mission. Army policy forbids me from addressing the specifics of
the mission. I was supposed to be going "downrange" this week, but
it may not happen due to some other things going on back here in
town *disppointed face*. I was really looking forward in riding on
one of the "Eagle Express" trucks down and back again!
I hope you like the new look and feel of The Tree. If you haven't
been through the entire site lately, take a little time and browse
through the entire <A HREF="http://www.vhm.com/~uscardnl/>site</A>.
You'll find some pleasant surprises and some nice photos. You'll
also find some rather yucky photos as well, because we lost our
scanner here and I had to "email photos" from another site. I'll
have it fixed for sure by the end of next month (May).
I encourage you if you do NOT own any kind of virus cleaner or
checker to please click <A HREF="http://www.mcafee.com/">and get a
shareware copy </A>of Mcafee's SCAN and CLEAN. Like the commercial
says, "If you don't get your antivirus software from here, please
get it somewhere."
It must be a good sign...the sun's out and it's nice and bright
here in central Germany. Here's some highlights of what you'll
find here @ The Tree:

finally put together a comparision chart showing the older Boy
Scout emblems, the ones used between 1972-79, and the current ones.
It took me some time to put it all together, but they are there for
your usage. Sorry for the long delay...I had them on diskette, but
up until today, did not have the time to put it all together.
(Does anyone have a scanned copy of the 1973 and/or 1977 Eagle
Scout Badges to add here? I have a 1977-era Eagle Badge, but it's
framed and matted...please send me a note *privately* and let me
know!)
* <A HREF="http://www.vhm.com/~uscardnl/cnclinfo.htm">A "Directory
of BSA Council Information"</A> is coming.
After being advised that the BSA has plans to make available its
Council directory through their web site, I held off on my own
version until this past weekend. This DIFFERENT directory will be
ready to use by April 16th, and will be in a different format than
the BSA's to avoid any problems with them. I hope that you will
like it, bookmark it and use it as an additional resource IN
ADDITION to the BSA's official directory. I have not made a link
to their directory also at the advisement of this same person, whom
works within the BSA's Information Management Support Division. I
will make a formal announcment of the information site once I have
it done and have uploaded it to my site.
* "The<A HREF="http://members.aol.com/coffeeweb/pao.htm"> "PAO
page"</A> has a better look and an added attraction: a page which
will feature photos from here in the command....some of them, as
time goes onward, are rather silly....
* I have included some <A
HREF="http://members.aol.com/coffeeweb/mike.htm"> personal
information</A> on a separate page to kinda give you some idea of
who I am. As the site blooms further, I hope to include links to
where some of my stories are found....I have to find them all
first!! Don't laugh too hard at the photos!
* My children's web page will feature some of their younger <A
HREF="http://www.vhm.com/~uscardnl/aaa.htm"> photos </A>since their
mother hasn't sent more recent photos of the three.
* We have made it through the first two phases of the adoption
process and Jessica is now waiting for me to "get back on this side
of the pond" so we can go through the home study part together.
As I posted here earlier, Jessi and I are going to have Kailey by
adoption and in a bit of pride and a bit of vainness, we are going
to post her photos and voiceprint and just about everything else
here. I'm in the process of making another<A
HREF="http://members.aol.com/jessirose/kailey.htm"> "electronic
baby book"</A> (the first one got toasted when I was in Sardinia
last month, getting ready for this African mission!), and I'm
trying to get it done before I rotate back Stateside.
* My Sergeant Major, Dan Coberly, received the Distinguished Eagle
Scout Award....I failed to link the <A
HREF="www.vhm.com/~uscardnl/coberly.htm">article</A>, so many
people only had the photos to see. <A

* The Eagletips are also finally here, and many of them can be

the Eagletips area </A>. I think that once I move the Eagletips
and other files to the Dynasty server, that my FTP problems will be
over and done with. Dynasty.net is giving me TEN MBs of disk
space...how about that!! Please express to

their space!! They are <B>really</B> a first class operation.
* A reminder to those visiting: the ONLY COMMERCIAL pages are on
America Online <SUP>tm </SUP>, by agreement with Joe "Fox" Nietman,
whom I need to publically thank for allowing the space for the
Cardinal Council and my personal pages on his server. Please

* The Scout Laws are now complete and will be found at Gary
Hendra's <A HREF="http://www.macscouter.com/BlackEagle"> MacScouter
</A> site. His site keeps getting better and better!! Please
visit and see not just my stuff but everything that he has
available for Scouters (even if the "machine format"...
Macintoish...isn't my favorite platform!! *heheheheee*)
* Another site worth stopping in on is the <A
HREF="http://www.isd.net/stobin"> Netwoods Virtual Campsite</A>,
owned by Steve Tobin.
I highlighted both of their sites because they have a large amount
of my previous postings and information and because of their
layouts.
* Be also looking for an electronic version of many of the pages
from all three <http://users.aol.com/coffeeweb/mbooks.htm>books
</A>. In particular, I am very proud of the entry page for
"Patches and Pins"....although very few of the patches and
pins there are mine!!
As of this editing, more than 1300 people have visited my site
(something like three a day). Thanks for visiting, offering me
