heros of scouting

I realize that many of you will get this message two or three times, but
I needed maximum coverage for my question.
I mentioned a couple of days ago that I am looking for hero stories from
scouts. We have talked quite a bit on Scouts-L about the role of scouts
in various wars, etc ("scouting trivia").
I'm now asking again, as I've received nothing to date. If anyone has
any true stories of heroism in scouting (and don't tell me to go to Boy's
Life--I'm writing my MA thesis right now on inter-tribal politics in
Zimbabwe, and don't have time to look at Boy's Like), either well-known,
in the US or any other country, local stories, whatever, please send them
to me. I will make a digest of it and post it to the list(s). OA
stories are welcome as well.
These stories are used for a really inspirational and moving closing
campfire, especially for a junior leader training.
Thanks,
Jason
