Re: Spring Camporee Suggestions

When I was a Scout we had a "Survival Camporee". Everyone attend with
minimal equipment (plastic tarp, knife, etc.) and had to construct their own
shelter & find their own food. I'm sure that there was training in Troop
meetings and perhaps at the Camporee but I don't remember it. I do
remember, however, that we all had a great time.

Here's an idea that I've been toying with but haven't done yet: a Camporee
with an reinactment theme. For those who don't know, "reinactors" have a
strong interest in a period in history and try to re-create that period by
getting together for a weekend and living like the people did then.
Favorite periods are the Civil War, Revolutionary War & the Mountain Men/fur
trappers of the early 19th century. The Camporee would involve getting some
reinactors together to "do their thing" for the Scouts at a camp. I think
this would go over well with the Scouts because because when we have had
individuals at various Council activities those areas have been popular.
