These people!?!
Sit him down and tell him that "these people" are his customers or whatever
term you want to use. Tell him that if "these people" aren't satisfied they
will take their business (their sons) elsewhere. Tell him his attitude only
makes things worse. If I heard this kind of comment from a
scoutmaster/teacher/whatever I would wonder just what he was trying to put
over on me or get away with or hide. Ask him to put himself in the place of
one of those parents--what would his reaction be.
I run a very open unit. Scouts & parents can call me any time (including at
work) and I take whatever time is necessary to answer their concerns. We
have monthly committee meetings that all parents are encouraged to attend.
