Re: Female Scout Leaders

Lets open this can of Worms all the way up.

You are absolutely correct. Men can be co-leaders in Girl Scouts.
I Have been a co-leader for years. What has not been mentioned is
that I, as a Adult Male over 21, can not be the Primary leader in a
Girl scout Troop. Also during outings I am not allowed to sleep in
the Same Campsite as the Troop I must sleep away from the others something
like 500 ft. Greatly reducing my usefulness in the event of an
emergency. Nor are men allowed to be left with the girls during a
meeting by themselves, without another female leader. But you don't
hear many people complaining about a Double Standards, after all it is to
protect our daughters. Men are the only people who would take advantage
of a child. Yes as you may have figured out, I am a little upset.
two years ago My wife was unable to continue a the Leader of out
Troop and there was no other mothers willing to step forward to fill
her shoes, so the troop folded and my daughter was left out in the
cold. Just my 2 cents. any change? :)
