Please, let me clarify my original statements from earlier.
The Council Eagle Advancement Chairman asked that the Scoutmasters
push through the projects, not the paperwork following it. It was
more important that we hit that magic 40 mark and break the record
number of Eagles in our Council then let the boys complete their own
project on the their own time. Sorry, I didn't phrase it right the
first time.
Here is my original letter.
Last month at our District Roundtable, December 12, 1996, the Council
Eagle Scout Advancement Chairman stuck his head in the door of our
meeting. He made an announcement that just stuck in my craw and has
been eating at me ever since.
He said, "We are just 2 Eagle Scouts away from breaking an all time
record of 40 Eagles from our Council. If you have any Scouts that
are close to completing their projects, push them through and get
that paperwork to me as soon as possible. If we have to schedule a
separate BoR for him we will do it right up to the end of the year.
We really want to break that record."
