Woodbadge criticisms

Since I feel largely responsible for this thread occuring, I would like to
address some of the issues.
My main complaint is that the course is a week long. That's alot of vacation
time to give up when the kids can't come, but they're calling it my "adult"
vacation. (They'll be 11). My mom has agreed to watch the kids while I'm
gone.
The issues about cost. My course is $275.00 for the week. That includes
housing/food and materials. Granted it is alot of money, but I consider
it a pretty "cheap" vacation overall. Other people have informed me that
some councils have some money available for individuals that might otherwise
not get to go. (Evette falls into this category). The main cost I see will
be getting the "stuff" together that I'll need. People from this list
who only know me from this list have offered to "loan" me articles of clothing
for this event. (Again, what a great group!)
The stripped shirt that I knew nothing about til my posting. I can see the
logic for this. I know that several people have told me that they ask me
for information based on the "knots" that I have. It does not mean that I
am "great" or "better" just that I took the training (and my mom sewed the
stuff on my shirt--her contribution to Scouting!). I have someone who is
giving me both her tan and yellow blouse.
I'm lucky enough to work with two trainers who have been to Cub Trainer
Woodbadge. They worked extremely hard in the Scouting program. I have met
some others that have their Woodbadge and I would not really enjoy working
with them. It's like everything else...some good, some bad.
As far as the trainers go, I'll have to wait to make that assessment. I was
not happy with Cubmaster Training at Philmont, but would not have missed the
"EXPERIENCE" for the world. Being surrounded by all those people with a
common goal. It was like being in the "mensa" of Scouting. Everyone learns
from more than just what the instructor has to offer.
Sorry for the long post, but I just had to jump in.
