In addition to the adult recognitions of District Award of Merit,
Outstanding Adult Unit Volunteer, Presentation of Training Awards, and
other appropriate recognition, we also recognize outstanding youth with
such items as Explorer Leadership Award.
The highlight is the recognition
of all Eagle Scouts who have earned their Award in the past year. Each
Eagle is asked to rededicate themselves by participating in the Oath and
all Eagles in the room are asked to come forward and state when and where
they earned their Eagle along with the new Eagle Scouts. This is often
very impressive and has ranged from the newest to recipients of the
Distinguished Eagle Scout award, one of whom received their Eagle in 1928!
New Eagle Scouts are sponsored either by their units or the District
volunteers so their meals are free in recognition of their achievement.
To further highlight the evening, members of the Professional Staff, the
district committee and other volunteers will contribute their musical and
dramatic talents in a "Scouting Review" or "Parade of Stars" extravaganza
which is always hilarious and loads of fun.
Last year's theme was musical trends from the
past up through current tunes with "lip synch" impersonation of various
bands and groups. This year's "Parade" will focus on the "stars" and
should be a riot.
Hope this is useful..Best wishes..
