Court of Honor Ceremonies

Marc W. Solomon (m_solomon@ALLI.COM)
Tue, 31 Dec 1996 09:41:05 -0600

At our roundtable staff meeting last night, the topic of ceremonies for
Courts of Honor came up. Many of us who are also Unit Commissioners and/or
part of the FOS campaign have noticed that the troops in our district lack
any ceremony in the handing out of awards. They will just call up the
scouts who earned a specific rank and hand them all the rank and have a
round of applause for them. No pomp and circumstance, no description to the
audience of what was actually accomplished by earning this rank, no
involvement of the Scouts receiving the rank (i.e., promise to live up to
the accomplishment, pinning parent's pins on, whatever).

Which leads up to my request to this esteemed (at least by me) group of
Scouters. Can you share with me and with the rest of the group ceremonies
you have used at Courts of Honor? I will attempt to collect these, arrange
them in some fashion and send them out to anybody who requests a copy.

TIA,

YIS,

Marc Solomon Unit Commissioner
