I do not know about the other regions, but the NE Region published a guide
to all of their camps about 1991. It is my understanding that a revised
version is in the works.

The guide did not really have any "qualitative" type of information like the
type being provided by Ed and others in their discussions of the various
Southern Region camps. It provided information like types of facilities,
size, whether they offered summer camp programs, etc. in a grid format. It
also included contact information so that you could get further information
about any camps you might be interested in.

I can tell you that in 91/92 my troop used the guide extensively when we had
to find a new summer camp because the camp we had been going to was closed.
We looked at the types of information provided in the guide, decided which
were important to us and then created a list of possible camps that we
wanted to know more about. I (because I could make long distance calls from
work) called each council and discussed our needs and the camp with someone
at the council office.

Ultimately, we ended up at Resica Falls Scout Reservation, now part of
Cradle of Liberty Council in Philadelphia/Valley Forge PA, which we did NOT
have on our list when we went through the guide, even though it was listed.
(I'm not sure why not.) We found the camp because I posted a note on an
electronic BB about looking for a camp and the program director contacted me
about RF. We have been thrilled with the camp ever since.
