Introduction

Rick Hanes (rickh@BUFFNET.NET)
Sat, 28 Dec 1996 20:24:21 -0500

Just a few words to introduce myself. My name is Rick Hanes and my main
position is Scoutmaster of Troop 474, Greater Niagara Frontier Council,
serving the Buffalo, NY area. I live in the town of Bennington, NY<
which is also the location of one of our council camps. I have been in
this position for eight plus years along with being a committee member
for Pack 474. I was a cub for 4 years and earned the rank of Star Scout
while in for four years. I became active again in Scouting when my son
became a cub in third grade. As he crossed over the bridge, so did I to
become the new, raw, rookie scoutmaster of a troop with 6 Scouts. What
a trip. I gradually became more involved with my training and attended
a wonderful Woodbadge coarse in 93 and earning my beads in the fall of
94. I am very active in the council as a trainer of both adults &
Scouts. I am presently a Committee member for our Council Junior Leader
Training Conference (held a Schoellkoph Scout Reservation, June 29-July
5, 1997). I have been on staff for numerous Scoutmastership
Fundamentals, an instructor for our District Roundtables, and will be
putting a session of "Scouting on the Internet" for our University of
Scouting in February.

I have enjoyed reading all the many postings for the past two months. I
have to admit that this is one great resource for anyone in Scouting.

Thanks

--
Rick
